Leatherhead's 8 Page Story
Here's a sneak peek at my up-coming story about Leatherhead.
This plot is years old, back from my Tales days.
I've always wanted to do it, but the time was never right until Murph felt it would fit nicely in issue 38. Needless to say, after finishing the layouts and sending them off to be penciled by Fernando Pinto, I was
not able to complete the inks on time so it got shelved.
Meanwhile, my other freelance workload was increasing so that in order for it to ever see print I had to give it up.
Enter inker Joe Rubenstein, who stepped in to help out.
Scripting chores went to my good friend Doug Brammer, who you might remember, wrote a few issues of the Archie Adventure series back in the early 90's.
Dan will schedule it as soon as everything is done. I can't wait.

wow guys, i just found your blog recently, great work and thank you so much for sharing all your pics and news and views! I especially like the older behind-the-scenes stuff.
a bit off-topic (though leatherhead is involved), but something I always wanted to know:
re: the mutanimals - when each individual character was created and introduced in the TMNTA series, was the original idea for them to eventually form the mutanimals, or did the team idea come later? How early into TMNTA had you planned to make the MM into a team?
thanks!

A Leatherhead story! Sweet! Looking forward to it.
Greetings mollinger! Glad you found our blog and that you enjoy it!
Most of the characters came first, then the idea to bring them together. The idea of the "super-hero team" came fairly early in the Archie run.
Ah, Usub...Leatherhead's distant cousin!! Thanks tokka.

Yep. Thanks! It's a tad different though...
I love those roll playing books Tokka some of the best art!
Jim Lawsons art in those is the top notch art of his I'm always speaking of. His art just looks so good when inked that way.
And I can't wait I was a bit dissapointed with the last leatherhead tale I don't really like that he was around when the turtles where babies it for whatever reason bothers me allot.
I guess I always though he was mutated around the same time as them and was a baby as well when mutated.
I did like doc x being in there though which did confuse me none the less because peter said nothing from image is in the mirage world.
Sorry you didn't like #38.
Leatherhead is still young then, though.
Just not a baby.
The Doctor X story precedes the Image comics and goes way back to my Tales days, about 19 years ago - a plot I wrote for the original Tales title that was never used.
That is, until Gary Carlson and I talked: he had wanted to use Leatherhead somehow and I mentioned the old Dr. X plot. He liked the idea and incorporated it into his story line for the Image title.
It's not that I didn't like it..it just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. *shrugg* but hey I'm not always gonna like everything :)
I'm also really not a fan of the baby turtles.
p.s. that's really cool!
I'd like to see more of the relationship between Dr. X and leatherhead and why he's not around anymore.
