Insectoid Invaders

Animation designs of Scumbug and the alien, Toxeem from the Mutanimals developement bible.

Funny, these 15 year old drawings look so chunky now when I compare them to the streamlined animation designs of today.

ok firstly this is all to upsetting..this seriously would have been the coolest show on tv ever by far...now I see why Mirage doesn't want it out there because they're afraid it would do better than turtles ;P
And wow Scumbug looks even better here than he did on the turtles episode he was on.

Mirage was fully behind the Mutanimals.

Maybe not as much as Space Usagi but they actively shopped it around.

Playmates killed it with their decision not to participate, feeling
that not enough children would want to buy these characters again.

pft well my applogies to Mirage then I shouldn't group people together like that.
It come to my knowldge though that Peter Laird has a problem with most of this stuff and that's why I said that. But hey I'd like him to prove me wrong.
And you know what Playmates just ticks me off because they never take chances with anything.
They just guess oh people won't like this or that..well let me tell ya I'd sooner buy these characters than I would any of there horrid new TMNT varrients.

oh and people would buy these characters if PLAYMATES would hire some one who could actulyl sculpt toys that look good like the upcoming neca turtles...instead of producing a line of toys that look just as bad if not worse than most happy meal toys.

Scumbug! Is THAT where the guy made his initial appearance? I always wondered why he was just in one episode and where he came from.

Also, This week is the anniversary of the original cartoon show, 20 years. Any stuff lying around Mirage that we haven't seen? :)

Ugh.. the comparisons between Playmates and NECA bothers me soooo much. The two are completely separate entities with different target markets and target price points. For that reason alone you are NEVER going to see Playmates make something that can compare to what NECA does. That doesn't excuse them from making their crappy Auto Attack/Alien Hunter/Mike's now got a different colored helmet&skateboard Turtle variants, but I really don't think they deserve *all* of the bashing people have been giving them lately.

Neil: Scumbug was in the Archie series.

Man, these are realy cool. By any chance, was Slash going to bridge this gap and drop into Mutanimals like he did in the TMNTA reality?
And where the Turtles going have slight redesigns to match this animation style?

Oh yeah, lots of stuff but I don't have access to it. Wish I did! Murph does though...

Slash isn't in the proposal and no design drawing was done for him. But if the show would have been successful

Murph and I would have wanted to include him somehow.

As far as the turtles being redesigned I suppose they might have been tweaked a bit...
