Snake in the Grass

We love Pete's snake character Scalien! This was submitted to Playmates to be included in the TMNT toy line but was rejected.
I think we need a "Mirage Studios Rejected Ideas for Action Figures" toyline.
We'd collect them all for sure!

I'd buy every single last one for sure!
I want to see more and more of this stuff!
Hell I'd buy a book full of rejected toys.
Hell owning almost all the playmates toys catalogs it makes me so sad to see that so many toys make it to the prototype stages and never get released.
Such a waste of time and money, and hopes and dreams.
Playmate sshould change it's name to Dream Crusher Toys. lol

-->> ..yeh why the hell isn't there ..still ' The Art of Mirage Studios ' ..??

They still seem to look at it as just a lost opportunity ..

-->> .. Pete, i also like your logic on the character. The harness, ect. makes allot of sense.

No rip on good ol' Scale Tail .. but this one is actually a tad more plausible from a certain point of view.

This character came way before Scale Tail.

-->> .. i know , i'm just sayin' .. compare the two.. there's just a little more logic put into this one.

Scale Tail is a f7ckin' and appreciate him for that.

He's seems more like a mutant than a damm Alien.

He's supposed to be a bounty hunter, and he's got little machine gun torrents on his fuggin' fork toungue. One arm is humanoid, one arm is all snakes.

He's wild and bonkers .. for a bounty hunter, and for what he is he's cool.

But Scalien here .. is just like f8ckin' pure Peter Laird.

Pete thinks his sh7t out. Ok .. in LOGIC of the real world.. no maybe this guy would not exist.

In a certain Sci-fi logic ..

yes.. it's very well thought out.

This is the same type of input he help implement into Fugitoid.

Ir's called REASON.

See what i'm saying.. he really put this guy together and gave it a cause and effect.

A ' WHY ' .. this character has a slight '60s - '70s sci-fi feel to it too.

Pete's character development is fulla stuff like that.

You just gotta look at it a tad deeper, it's there.

And it's right here in Scalien.

-->> .. damm he even has input on there regarding a 'rubbery' material that this thing coulda been made out of.

His toy designs are all filled with sh7t like this little notes of ' WHAT THIS COULD BE' .. or "WHAT THIS LITTLE KNOB COULD DO" ..

" OR THIS MAYBE THE BAD GUY DOES THIS WITH THAT AND THE OTHER OR MAYBE - - "

.. My god !!

Well if that rejected idea's line ever comes to fruition, hit me up I'd love to help sculpt/draw packaging!

Can you handle 1,000 figures or more to be released :)?

Yep, Pete takes the time to think things out. It's a shame really because it's all lost on Playmates.

IMO a lot of stuff that made real sense was either outright ignored or extremely watered down at Playmates.

You have killer designs by Pete which end up in the trash, but lame ideas like Half Court that make it to the store pegs!

It's a crime!

Last I heard was Gary was thinking of releasing it in some sort of comic book format.

Yes, I've heard that also. And as neat as that might end up being (for what it'll be), it's still no book and I also heard someone in the studio is being excluded from the project.
