What Do We Know?

Back in the day Murph and I tried relentlessly to get Playmates to do
something, anything from the TMNT Adventures book. But there was real resistance to our ideas at every turn.

One thing we pushed hard was the "wrestling turtles" --
actual legit early Pete and Kev designs. Playmates was pumping out every conceivable turtle variant they could think of except the one that Murph and I thought made the most sense -- the wrestling turtles! Oh well, what do we know, we're
just artists.

Would you have bought Archie "wrestling turtle" figures?

OMG absolutely! I would've especially wanted the "rising sun" Donatello costume. That was my favorite, followed by the all black "assassin" Raph.

A real shame that Playmates didn't take advantage of the Archieverse, but I guess they're infamous for having a stubborn streak. Ryan and Murph, thanks for trying, though. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

I'd still buy them! You can bet if these had come out during the hey day, they would have been on my and every other nine year old's Christmas list.

I would maim puppies for a year for the full set.

Okay, maybe not that far, but it would be sweet.

And a full set of Malignoids? COME ON!

How much longer do we have to wait for the "Future War"?

oh yeah, totally. raph and don were my favorite. i think it's interesting how raph's black costume pre-dates spider-man's.

i made some customs of the stump turtles as well as leatherhead, trap, cryin hound. you can see them

Well, back then I bought a lot of figures that, in retrospect, were crap. I was a kid who was TMNT-obsessed, and I fell for the okey doke. So, by that logic, yes, I definitely would have bought these. But as an older fan, I'm more picky...and I'd still buy these in a heartbeat. If they came out today, I'd be the first in line. The fact that they were never made is a huge testament to the incompetence of Playmates.

Then again, they got me to buy what I just referred to as crap, so maybe they aren't that incompetent, eh?

The one thing I've desperately wanted from Playmates for forever is something related to the Adventures title. I would buy any and all of it without hesitation.

But what do I know? I'm just a crazy fan who spends money on this crap.

Bring on the Playmate sucks comments! :)

Just kidding...

I know this is blasphemy, but I never did read the Archie turtles, minus one or two back issues...

so I don't even know what the wrestling turtles are..

As far as the suits ::

If the TMNTA Wrestling Turtles were offered finally " OFFICIALLY " ..i would fully support it. MANY MANY MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
fans would and would buy 'em.

It would be a positive thing desperately needed in this franchise, and hopefully stop allot of the negativity and fuel a new fire of creativity that's been begged and pleased for for years.

In an instant!

I'm telling you, we must have "TRASH CAN" written across our collective foreheads, because playmates keeps feeding us their garbage.

By the way, thanks for the help today with the Radio Boy question.

To be honest, back in the day, the rubbery movie turtles were my turtletoys of choice, and I didn't see the need for more.

These days, I'd love some wrestlin' turtles.

Vaughn Michael said...

Seriously these are great toys on so many levels because not only are they ninja turtles and would grab those fans but they look like super heros and would grab those fans, the designs are simply amazing, and not to mento um hello WWE wrestling fans would eat these things up.
What more reasons do these people need to make turtles based on the wrestling design concepts.

Oh Ryan and Gang check out 2 of my custom Wrestling TMNT I made these for TMNT fan Spitfire.

I'd go for 'em.

Hey, how about we have a whole season or story arc of the new toon where they're wrestling on Stump Asteroid?
