NECA Buyer Beware!

Looks like Leo is down to one katana now. The other one broke as I excitedly pulled it out from underneath the tape. Snapped right off. I thought they were made of that thick, rubbery plastic. Stupid, stupid me...should have cut the tape.

Needless to say, I was quite inconsolable after this happened.

That's very odd I've bought 2 sets of these now one to keep and one to make into a custom set and I've yet to have any problems with any of mine and I haven't even taken any kind of special care or anything of them.
Sounds to me like NECA needs some better quality controll though. :\

Poor Leo! But now you could stage a very dramatic scene with the Shredder figure, when he comes out....

It's funny, Leo kinda has that look of "WTF?"

That does stink though, sorry about that!

Thanks everyone. I know you feel my pain. I tried some super glue and it seems to be holding, but for how long?

Yeah dinoff, Leo is not happy at all. In fact, he's pretty P.O.'d !

-->> My Raph's " SAI HOLDING " hand kept falling out of the arm. The hole for the peg in his left wrist socket was too large. I tried to remedy this with the old ' Super Glue trick' , it worked for awhile, but then the hand warped and the peg broke off the bottom of the hand and got stuck in arm. Almost ruining the fig.

Luckily i had some extra ' Climbing hands' from an extra Mike i bought//.. i had to bore a hole in the arm where the peg was broke and stuck in his wrist with a soldering tool, Then i carefully removed the upper half of the broken peg from the ' Sai ' hand ( this part was a b6tch and i had to heat up in hot water & bend the bottom of the hand apart carefully to get damm peg put..).

Sacrificing the climbing hand ( but not the peg ) .. i carefully ' cut the climbing hand ' to reveal and remove the good peg. Placed it in the 'Sai' hand and closed it up as careful as i could with some needlenose pliers. The new hole i bore with the soldering tool was just tight enough to fit this ' NEW HAND ' i had made. The broken plastic and the heat melted inside the socket just enough to form a new " SNUGG - ER " hole.

( I don't recommend doing this ..they way i did. There's allot of dangerous heating elements i've used for years and allot of burnt plastic ..which can be rather toxic so. )

But what a pain in the arse. Had the hole for Raph's hand been snug enough in the first place like it was supposed to be, i wouldn't have had to play Dr.Tokkenstein.

Dude, that just sucks. Poor Leo. Good thing you know the ancient art of plastic sword mending, Ryan!

I haven't had any problems with my NECA figs (crossin' my fingers here), but I did notice that Don's bo doesn't take well to placing it in his hands. The bo is kinda bent now, grr...

It hurts me just to see that.

You might want to take a look at Plastruct's Plastic Weld. Works pretty well on most figurine repairs.

I think this is Ryan posting right? Or is it Steve? I'm not sure. Anyway I did the same exact thing on accident. I was able to super glue it and it's held perfectly for a few months now. It's pretty hard to tell that it even broke. It's held up to continuous sheathing and unsheathing. So hopefully you'll be able to fix yours too!
