Those Were The Days

This picture was taken at one of the many photo shoots in the old Florence studio. We were all in the background trying to crack them up. I had an excuse for goofing around because the photographers always commandeered my space for the backdrop. That's why I was always late with the inks for Tales, yeah!

Say "cheese".

I like the background art. It seems inspired by Vol.1 #4. Was it a unique piece or based on something else?

Um, I don't remember adam. I know we had a stack of
B&W posters printed up with that artwork on it. Don't remember what for though...

My guess is 1989 tokka.

The art in the background is a color piece I did (I'm not sure if it was used anywhere -- possibly on a cover of a role-playing game book) that one of us enlarged on the then-new Mirage Studios color copier in segments, which were then taped or glued together to make a big poster-type thing. Primitive, but effective! -- Peter Laird

-->> Some day, Peter.. i hope we can see the piece in full effect. The photo is terribly intruiging and poster is one i doubt many fans have seen if not in a long time.. .. perhaps ever !!

Actually, the more I look at this thing, the more it looks like something I drew, and then Michael Dooney painted. I do think I did my own color version of it, though. -- Peter Laird

Hey Pete!! Thanks for stopping by and clearing this up. We couldn't remember exactly what the art was for.
